The Alabama Flag

Counting 50 states and a number of territories, as part of the United States of America, "each" flies a unique representing banner or flag from all kinds of flagpoles. The state of Alabama flies the Alabama state flag and has done so for a long time. In fact, the current state banner is more than one century old and features the crimson cross on a white background.
The Crimson Cross is considered a diagonal cross, known in the world of flag poles and historic flags as a "saltire." Since law designates the bars to be at least 6 inches wide, smaller banners and flags that feature the red colored saltire do not live up to the legal specifics. Considered being on of the older state banners, the Alabama state flag is more than 100 years old. This flag was adopted on November 13th, in 1895.
Like other states, Alabama used to fly another flag before the current flag was adopted at the end of the 19th century. During the early month of 1861, the so-called "Alabama Secession Convention" accepted a resolution first designating an official state flag. The design of that flag was produced by a group of women from the city of Montgomery. The two sides of the flag both displayed the same blue colored field whereas the other elements were different.
The use of the saltire on the Alabama banner might remind some of other historic flags, including the St. Patrick's flag. Also, the state flag of Florida displays a red colored saltire on a white field. This flag was first approved around the turn of the last century, in 1900. Even though approved back then it has not been in use since 1985, following improvement and optimization of the Florida state seal.
The state of Alabama is located in the southeastern part of the United States of America. Alabama's inhabitants fly the respective state flag from poles of all kinds, including impressive tall steel flag poles. Alabama's territory is bordered by the states of Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi. Also, the Gulf of Mexico borders this beautiful land to the south.
Historical flags are attached to flagpoles throughout our nation. The Alabama state flag is made available by resellers in and outside of our country. Adopted back in 1895, Alabama was admitted to the Union back in 1819.
